Candidates whose Basic Education Certificate Examination results have been frozen on alleged exams malpractices are to know their fate by next week, the West African Examination Council has revealed.

Head of Public Affairs of WAEC, Mrs. Agnes Teye-Cudjoe told 3News Thursday that investigations would be completed by next week after which the outcome will be announced.

WAEC Wednesday released results of this year’s BECE and that of 321 candidates across the country were frozen on suspicion of various exams malpractices.

The results of 22 other candidates suspected to have received external help through mobile phones they sneaked into the examination halls were cancelled.

Mrs Teye-Cudjoe told host of 3FM’s Sunrise morning show, Winston Amoah, on Thursday that irregularities were detected when the scripts were being marked.

“During marking, the examiners detected collusion in the scripts of the candidates”, She said.

She explained further that “when it happens like that, we have to scrutinize their scripts to know the extent and sometimes, there could be a center or school that not all the candidates were involved”.

Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe said candidates found to be without fault at the end of the investigation will have their results released whilst the rest will be cancelled.
