West Ham United winger Andre Ayew is elated to see his former club Marseille bounce back to winning ways in the French Ligue 1.
Les Olympiens picked three points for the first time in four matches following a comeback win over Nantes on Sunday.
Bafetimbi Gomis and Clinton N’Jie netted for Franck Passi’s side after Emiliano Sala had given Nantes a second minute lead.
“I [was] very happy with the victory and above all for the team, for the fans and for Franck,” Ayew was quoted as saying by Tribal Football.
“I've known him since I was young. I hope the group will continue to look up.
“If they continue like this, the fans will follow and the stadium will be full.
“We had to bounce back, and they did it with force and strength, even if the last few minutes were more complicated.
“I'm also happy for my friend Bafé [Gomis].”
Marseille’s disappointing start to the season has plunged them to 13th on the league table ahead of Sunday’s clash with Angers.
Ayew played for Marseille between 2007 and 2015 before moving to English Premier League side Swansea City last season.
In August, he joined West Ham United on a three-year deal.
