The Independent Presidential Candidate for the 2016 elections, Jacob Osei Yeboah (JOY), has made a passionate appeal to his colleagues, who were disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC), to think critically about their decision to take any legal actions against the EC.
JOY says if they are not sure of the reasons why they were disqualified, they should not take any legal action but rather let it go. Mr. Osei Yeboah made the appeal on Onua FM’s Kokromoti hosted by Kwasi Asempa on Friday.
Thirteen presidential aspirants were disqualified on Monday on various forms of irregularities on their forms. “I am sad that some candidates have been disqualified but I am happy they are taking the issue to court because it means they mean what they are doing and our democracy is growing,” JOY said.
He added, “they should think carefully before taking the EC to court. If they think they have cases they should go but if they are not sure they should not”.
JOY said some of the disqualified candidates might have left the forms for someone to fill for them “so if you are not sure and you left them for someone to do it for them, they should keep quiet for us to move ahead”.
