World Cup Draw : Ghana In Group 2

Ghana will have to work extremely hard if she is to qualify for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, following the draw for the African qualifying zone today in Stuttgart.

Ghana is drawn up in a group made up of South Africa (top seed), Congo DR, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Cape Verde. South Africa, the only country in the group to have made it to the world cup, considers Ghana a "serious potential banana skins". Former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper coach and now Wits mentor Roger de Sa picked out Ghana as "one to avoid," but insisted that any game in Africa was not an easy one.

The last World Cup's surprise packages Senegal were handed a great chance of reaching the 2006 tournament

Senegal have been drawn in Group 1 where Mali appear to be their toughest test while, on paper, South Africa and Nigeria also seem to have straightforward tasks to reach the finals.

The tightest groups will see North African rivals Tunisia and Morocco fight it out for top spot and Group 3 pits Cameroon against main dangers Egypt.

The African zone has been separated into five groups of six nations, with the top team qualifying automatically for the finals in Germany.
