Former National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan has taken a swipe at the flagbearer of the Opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo for sipping a paper pack of Kalyppo, a fruit juice.

Nana Addo is captured in a picture which was circulated on various social media platforms sipping Kalyppo during one of his campaign tours.

The post was deemed a subtle attempt to ridicule the NPP candidate and in response, several other persons, including leading members of the opposition party and social activists, on social media started to post selfies which captured them also sipping the fruit juice.

But at the NDC’s Ashanti Regional Campaign launch over the weekend, Yaw Boateng-Gyan took a dig at the NPP flagbearer saying he could not fathom why a grown up like Nana Addo will be sipping Kalyppo; a drink meant for kids.

He added that once the NPP flagbearer has developed a taste for kids’ drinks, it will only be a matter of time before he (Nana Addo) graduates to sucking breasts.

Mr Yaw Gyan also took the opportunity to explain to the thousands of supporters at the launch that there is no acrimony between him and current National Organizer Kofi Adams as speculated by some members of the opposition.

"Now that he (Nana Addo) has started taking Kalyppo, he will soon be sucking breast which is meant for babies…just as I invited Kofi Adams to be on the stage with me (signifying unity), I am appealing to other aspirants who lost in whatever primary (whether at the constituency or regional level) and our supporters who feel disillusioned and are appear apathetic to our cause, to come out in your numbers to vote (for the NDC); because if you are not too careful and the elephant (NPP) regains power, you will bear the brunt of its trampling,” he told a teaming crowd of supporters at the Jubilee Grounds in Kumasi.
