Always pay your taxes - AGI admonishes businesses

Ghanaian entrepreneurs have been advised not to shun the payment of taxes as business people in order to keep their businesses moving.

The Chairman of the Northern Chapter of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Mr. Osman Sahanoon Kulandi gave this advice during the 2016 annual general meeting held yesterday the 20th of October, 2016 at the Radach Conference center in Tamale.

He explained that one main duty as a citizen of a country is to pay your taxes yet the need to comply as a responsible citizen.

"You must always pay your taxes as responsible citizens of Ghana in order to contribute to national growth and development". He stated. Mr. Osman, said, it is very dangerous for any business man or woman to avoid the payment of taxes since it can lead to the collapse of their business unexpectedly, though the payment is bitter, hence has counsel them to pay their taxes in order to sustain their businesses.

He said there is no excuse one can give to the revenue collectors to prevent them from locking up your business if it found out the you have faulted in the payment of your taxes as a business operator.

The Regional Chairman during his speech, disclosed that discussions are far advanced on a strategic business partnership with the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) dubbed AGI/SADA Strategic Partnership.

This he said would go a long way to introduce and focus projects and programs that are relevant to the Savannah ecological zone which is made up of the Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Volta and the Brong Ahafo Regions.On the AGI/SADA Partnership, Mr. Osman Sahanoon Kulandi said, under the partnership, a developmental oriented platform would be created to inform and educate various key stakeholders about the benefits and challenges of collaborations on projects and programs within the Savannah Ecological belt of Ghana.

The AGI Regional chairman on elections, reveled exclusively to Rainbow Radio that, when there is chaos in any country, no business man or woman in his right state of mind would go out to operate his or her business therefore, every Ghanaian business person should be a peace ambassador before, during and after the December 7 polls.
