My seniors wanted me to smoke wee – Afotey Agbo

The Greater Accra Regional Minister Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo has revealed, if not for his resilience and discipline he would by now be a hard wee smoker.

According to him at age 12 when he went to the senior high school, his seniors thought he was already a wee smoker because of his dark lips and therefore tried to force him into wee smoking.

He therefore urged all children of school going age to eschew such behaviours since it is capable of ruining their carrier. He was speaking at the PAPAYE Excellence awards organized by the PAPAYE Fast Food Services.

Brilliant students from thirty two (32) schools in the greater Accra Region were awarded. On his part, the CEO for Papaye Mr. Divine Kojo Asiedu, urged all the students to be focused and hard working in life.

The Papaye Excellence Awards is an an annual event widely recognised and warmly welcomed by schools in both the private and public sectors as it serves as motivation. The awards has seen expansion since its inception, over the last 2 years recognising pupils who have excelled in their academic pursuits and also developed all-round skillsw and attained remarkable achievements.

According to him, the organizers have over the yeas received support and cooperation from the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service in the common interest of upholding educational standards and rewarding academic performance.

Papaye he stressed has strive to be the first class food factory of international repute, and the company will not relent in working towards achieving our cores values, which include being customer oriented, environmentally consious, socially responsible and upholding a high level of integrity in our operations.

Papaye has over the years added to its original menu of fried rice and chicken. Papaye now serves-Fred Chips and Chicken, Fried Rice and Fish, Full Roasted Chicken, Club Sandwich, Beef Burger and now Ice Cream. Over 800 pupils were awarded from 32 schools. Twenty-seven (27) from each of the selected schools. The awardees were given educational materials while the selected schools were also given citations.
