Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo, has remarked that the John Mahama government seems to be more committed to themselves and schemes that will make their pockets fatter than in delivering on their core mandate of developing the nation and reducing the hardships of the people.
Dr Bawumia observed that this seems to be the reason why there is always money for scandalous schemes and projects that obviously end up enriching officials and cronies of the government, but there is always none when it comes to money for development and social investment.
Nana Akufo-Addo’s running mate made the comments in Offinso in the Ashanti Region on the first day of his three-day tour of the region.
He said “the NDC came to meet a debt of GHS9.5billion, which had been accrued from1957 to 2008, but in only 8 years the NDC has moved our debt from GHS9.5billion to GHS110 billion. 90% of Ghana’s debt has, therefore, been accrued just in these last eight years. Again, when one sums up all the taxes and loans, the NPP accrued onlyGHS20 billion for all the work we did. The NDC in eight years have had GHS248 billion from loans and taxes.”
Dr. Bawumia wondered why after so much resources, the NDC had still succeeded in making times hard for the ordinary Ghanaian and ended up collapsing almost all social intervention programmes.
“Despite all these resources, however, this government cannot pay what it has to pay to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), it cannot sustain the School Feeding Programme, National Youth Employment Programme or Free Maternal Care programme; they have cancelled Teacher Training and Nursing Training Allowances, they are owing contractors and cannot pay the School Feeding Grants too,” he said.

This Supreme Court Judgement is a very good news for the NDC.All the otherwise disqualified 13 parties are for CHANGE. The NPP is also for change and therefore they are all going to share the number of votes in the CHANGE basket. It therefore follows that the NDC will win first round. If the NDC does not, then it will go to second round and the NDC will mobilise most of the voters in the 13 parties to vote for it. With this verdict from the Supreme Court, Nana Akufo Addo will definitely retired on December 7th 2016!

We need to be serious in this country. Being President is not selling tomatoes. We need serious people and people who pay attention to detail because this is exactly what we lack as Africans. Why were other parties, much bigger parties able to fill theirs without problems but these useless mushroom parties were not. This our SC is now becoming something else. Their judgements don't really make sense. If u cannot fill a form correctly for President then when u become President u will sign something without paying attention to detail. I thought the SC would have made a ruling that will send a signal for people seeking public office to be serious. It is a pity but since they have spoken who am I to say no. 17 presidential candidates on ballot? We are now becoming jokers.

Their first recourse when questioned about performance deficiency is to take the "victim" card and play it as Madam Joyce Aryee pulled to defend Charlotte Osei in a recent posite.
Women must understand they cannot expect to be given a pass for incompetence or substandard performance by using their female charms in high profile jobs of national governance either. Uneasy is the head that wears the crown. I am not on the side of those who wants madam Osei to resign. That decision must be a personal choice. " all source of knowledge is experience". But going forward she must understand the power given her to run our elections does not make her a sovereign. She must apply this power with humility and wisdom. The people through our constitution are at the Apex of our laws. That Our judiciary are the custodians and interpreters of our laws. The EC must move forward with focus on the tasks for its existence. They must perform to keep litigations to a minimum.

The fact of the matter is that the EC is bent on doing whatever it could do to not let the elections take place as scheduled. Stalling is the game plan and this EC effort, is being pushed by unseen hands at the seat of government. The President and his Ndc party will get a hiding if the elections go on as planned. The options left to them is to muddy the waters. They have a willing partner in the EC boss, who on appointment to her office, pleadged, she will not disappoint. She is doing exactly that.
