There is beauty in the Prophecy, and that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
When it comes to electing leaders, democratically, God can intervene if HE wishes.
In scriptures God 'lamented' that they were installing Kings without his consent(that is, not being consulted). Although that Scripture applied to the nation of Israel, it equally applies to the nations, as well, by virtue of our covenant relations(new dispensation) with God through Christ.
Even in time past, God was able and still able to change the hearts of Kings (of the gentiles) to tow in the direction to his purposes\promises\prophecies. For example the case of Pharoah of Egypt and Cyrus of Medo Persia.
There is no partiality with God, and in every nation whoever does righteous is pleasing to him.
It pleases God that in all things we consult HIM. When we come to HIM with a humble heart and pray, HE is more than able to overturn situations, in accordance to his will.
The case of Jonah is an example, and that of Isaiah cum Hezekiah is another one. God had commanded Hezekiah through the Prophet Isaiah that he should put his household in order because he was not to recover and that death awaited him.
Hezekiah wept and prayed 'reminding'
God his steadfast obedient to him and how he had lived righteously. His prayers touched the Lord and there was a reversal in his situation. Isaiah was commanded by God to inform Hezekiah that he would live.
Let us remember that there were people of high public standing(including international dignitaries) who might have got wind of the fact that Hezekiah was to die according to the word of the Prophet, Isaiah.
It is credible that Isaiah was the same messenger who came to reverse the destiny of Hezekiah.
Nevertheless, for many dignitaries who learnt of the former report and not the reversed report, some might have doubted the authority of the Prophet. Some dignitaries from Baghdad came to visit him when they learnt of his recovery.
Notice that if God had sent a different Prophet to reverse the message, believers of today would have been questioning the authority of Isaiah, and that is the issue we are dealing with now.
What if God had not sent Isaiah the second time or never sent any one at all and yet healed Hezekiah, anyway?
God is teaching us something here, and he is using a credible man of God, indeed a prophet of our day, to minister to us that HIS GRACE IS MORE THAN ABLE TO CHANGE situations if we will do our part through fervent prayers.
Those who respected the prophecy and offered prayers in accordance to the will of God saw the turn of events.
In this instance, the contents of the prayers mattered. Not just forcing God to seat your candidate, but if the prayers can be offered to tie with the purposes and promises of God, HE will certainly intervene, without necessary revealing it to the Prophet again, this time around.
This does not mean that the candidate who lost could not have been used by God to advance his purposes. Infact, if the Prophecy had not come out, the turn of event would have been different.
The Prophet on his part will learn a lesson from this, I believe, in that
not every thing had to come to the public domain, or at least the prophecy should be clothed, like some of the prophecies of Daniel.
In conclusion, this is not about just finding out whether God or for that matter his Prophet will predict the next President of US. God is greater than that, even his Prophet.
And it is not for the Prophet to explain the whys and why nots, it will do help much, to the extend of trying to convince people to settle the issue at heart.
Stay blessed.
