A contractor, Alfred Woyome, has admitted, he unlawfully received money, taxpayers money, from Ghana Government sources. He got away with a light sentence probably, through his friends in high places. Woyome, the contractor agreed to pay back the money to government. This has been in the works for close to five years. He finally agreed to pay by installments! Strangely, his request was granted. A civil society group pushed for the money which Woyome himself has agreed to refund. The process was to let the Attorney General go to court to pursue an action. Reluctantly, the AG made it to the court to start the process. However, to the surprise of all who were following the case, The AG stopped along the way and said, it was no longer interested to get the money from Woyome! Martin Amidu who had personally sought and obtained a favourable judgement for the people of Ghana in the first place. Applied to the Supreme Court to examine Woyome. The exercise, the AG finds apprehensive to carry through. And yet, it is her duty to act in the interest of Ghana Government and for which, she is handsomely paid. The Supreme Court has given leave for Martin Amidu to do the needed act to find the sources the free money were disbursed. We will see the end of this running matter hopefully, at the end of the day. Meanwhile, the AG must resign her position, if she has any integrity still left.
