Goaso (B/A), Jan. 11, GNA- The Right-Reverend Peter Kwaku Atuahene, Bishop of Goaso Diocese of the Catholic Church, has renewed the Church's firm stand against contraception in general and the use of condoms in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS

He said the rapid spread of the pandemic should not be attributed to unprotected sex but rather to the high spate of immorality and lack of sense of judgement of some people.

Bishop Atuahene was preaching the sermon to mark the beginning of the New Year at Goaso in Asunafo District of Brong-Ahafo last Sunday. The Cathedral Administrator of the Diocese, the Rev. Father Augustine Nsiah Asante deplored the practice by most Christians to make resolutions at the beginning of a New Year but failed to abide by them. This year's resolutions should be accorded a special place in our resolve to build a better Ghana, he said.

Speaking on the theme: "Weapons of Christians", the Rev. Joseph Teye of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Goaso asked the Church members to promote peace in their activities.

Pastor George A.W. Manu of the Central Assemblies of God in Goaso urged the youth to adopt a more pro-active stance against social vices this year.

He reminded the youth of their crucial role in the 2004 general elections and asked them to be circumspect during the electioneering campaigns.
