Gyengyenadze (C/R), Jan. 26, GNA- The World Bank is to develop a planning scheme to cover communities along the coastal belt and some selected areas in the country to accelerate socio-economic advancement. Mr Mike Hammah, MP for Effutu, who announced this at a durbar to round off the annual Akwambo festival of the chiefs and people of Gyengyenadze, near Winneba, said the project would take off next month. He however, did not give the cost and other details of the project, but said is among the selected beneficiary communities. Mr Hammah announced that a new clinic at gyengyenade, which was constructed under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Administration, would be inaugurated soon to provide health delivery service to the communities.
The MP tasked traditional rulers and other opinion leaders in the area to support government efforts at reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS, adding that the disease was destroying the productive sector of the society.
He asked the Awutu Effutu Senya district assembly to enact by-laws to check irresponsible parents, who have neglected their children, particularly, those who fail to provide their children with basic education.
Mr Hammah said Gyengyenadze would be connected to the national electricity grid before the end of the year and appealed to people to be patient.
In a message, Nana Ghartey VII, Omanhene of Effutu traditional area, advised divisional and sub-chiefs within the area to mobilize manpower and financial resources in their communities to improve the health status and standard of education.
