The Case for Black Stars Quotas
The calibre of scouts who attend a chan tournament are not the same as scouts who show up for an Afcon. Afcon has more publicity, more history, more media coverage, more sponsors, more prize money, more attention than chan. The level of competition at Afcon is fiercer than chan. Espn, Fox and most global media outlets provide Afcon coverages, and not chan. The Afcon winner plays in the confederation cup, which = more scouts, more competition, more attention, more media coverage. Afcon has more scouts, period. It should not take an astronaut or a neuro-scientist to determine this. Do u know why affirmative action and employment equity programs for women, minorities and disabled were approved especially in Western nations? Simply because of inequity, and extreme prejudicial treatment metted out against blacks and other marginalized groups. In gfa' case, they discriminate based on payola. This is no longer a secret. Most locally based players have the skill but lack the payola money. So we need the quota system to help level the playing field for local players and provide the much needed integrity to the Ghanaian premier league. Nyantakyi could care less if the local league truncates, 3nfa ne ho. This guy Nyantakyi must be arrested and dropped in the Atlantic Ocean. He is a menace to Ghana soccer. He has more shame. After 7 failed Afcon appearances? Payola, shortcuts has no value and yields nothing. Look, don't u think local players like donsu, frimpong@kotoko, some hearts oak defenders would have made their name at the just ended Afcon? Donsu was scoring classic freekicks in the african champs lg. Have you already forgotten? Did you see any foreign based bstar players scoring from set pieces at the just ended Afcon? We Ghanaians do not appreciate what we have, nor do we value what we have. This is what Nkrumah was trying to change. Look at how we have wasted money on foreign soccer coaches? For what? Would Canada hire a foreign hockey coach to train Team Canada? Would America hire a foreign basketball coach to coach team Usa? Even after Brasil were walloped 7nil by Germany. Why did they not employ the services of German tactician, you ask? It's called pride. That will never happen. Invest in your own coaches and have faith. Keep investing until u succeed. We invested in AA for over 6yrs. He wasn't what we hoped he would become but he made history by beating Egypt 6 to 1. He was the first Ghanaian coach to qualify Ghana to a world cup. He made history. Today, he is coaching a top club in Sudan. We invested in him. Why can't our gfa create a C. K Gyamfi coaching school. Invite the best coaches from Brasil, Germany, Holland, Mourinho, Ancelotti, Guardiola, Lowe etc to train or even offer speaking engagements to Ghanaian coaches. Success involves thinking far beyond what we are used to. Will Ghana benefit if we produce and export coaches? Ofcourse! How will that boost Ghana's gdp, you ask? Today, we spend our meagre hipc cedis on foreigners, for what? Then we neglect our pitches and stadiums expecting these foreigners to do miracles through foreign based and born players. Stubborn, confused and incredibly stupid gfa. If you say local players are not qualified to play for bstar then u are naive and ignorant. Ebenezer Assafuah, a former local player excelled at u20, signed with sion fc and now a bstar player. Those u20 boys who won the wcup with Sellas Tetteh were local players. After the wcup, Milo took them to the Afcon tournament and the Afcon final vs Egypt. So, if you tell me that local players can not deliver in a bstar jersey then u are a (....) Medase.
