Kwame Danso (B/A), Feb. 13, GNA - The Sene constituency office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Kwame Danso, the district capital, was on Thursday, February 2, smeared with human faeces.

The incident occurred a day after an NPP's signboard had been removed by some unidentified persons at the outskirts of the town. Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Kwame Danso on Thursday on the incidents, Mr Frimpong Sarpong, the Sene constituency chairman of the NPP, said at about 5.30 am on February 2, a passer-by came to his house to report to him that the party office had been smeared with faeces. He said he went there in the company of some party executive to ascertain the truth and when they got there, they found out that the office had actually been smeared with faeces.

Mr Sarpong said following the removal of the party's signboard the previous day, he quickly reported the incident to the police at Kwame Danso.

He said the police also quickly moved to the office and expressed shock at what they saw and later supervised the scrubbing of the office. The constituency chairman said the crimes came two days after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency executive had publicly complained that the District Chief Executive, Mr Sunkwa Shiama had denied them the use of the assembly's canopy.

When Mr Tanimu Goyondodo, the assistant constituency secretary of the NDC was contacted, he said the party's activists were too disciplined that they would not engage in such an irresponsible act. He, however, admitted that the NDC executive were unhappy about the refusal of the DCE to allow them the use of the assembly's canopy even though the party paid the hiring charge for its use.

Mr Goyondodo also said the NDC supporters were disturbed over the burning of an NDC "T" shirt and flag by one Rabiu, a pupil teacher about two months ago.

The DCE, however, maintained that the shit bombing of the party office and the removal of the signboard were the work of the NDC. Reacting to the issue of the canopy, Mr Shiama said both the NPP and NDC paid for the use of the canopy on the same day to two different staff of the assembly.

He said in order to bring about peace he directed that it should not be given to any of the parties since he could not determine who made the request first.

The DCE said the District Security Committee (DISEC) was meeting on Friday, February 13, to discuss the two developments and see how best the two parties could co-exist in peace.

So far, no arrests had been made but the police said they had intensified their investigations to arrest the perpetrators of the crimes.
