REJOINDER: We didn't buy a rickety bus - Bolgantanga Polytechnic SRC

Poly Car The car in question

Fri, 28 Apr 2017 Source: Bugase Francis

Our attention have been drawn to some malicious stories cooked by the media and some Students of the Bolgantanga Polytechnic that the SRC has acquired a rickety vehicle at a cost of GHC70,000.

For the purposes of clarity and truth in the whole matter, we would like to outline the following untrue statements made in the media :

1. It has been stated that the vehicle was acquired at an amount of GHC70,000 which is a palpable lie.

2. It has been stated that an amount of GHC4,000 was incurred in fuel in bringing the car from Kumasi where it was purchased to Bolgantanga.

3. That the car was quickly painted when bought in Kumasi.

4.That the SRC President and the SRC Finance Officer went and purchased the vehicle without following the due processes.

5. That the car broke down twice upon bringing it from Kumasi to Bolgantanga.

6.That the bus is a 12 sitter.

7. That students are calling for the impeachment of the SRC President.

8.That Students have called the src President to explain his side of those allegations leveled against him.

The above alleged allegations trending in the media are untrue and the leadership of Bolgantanga SRC wishes to caution the media to be circumspect in their reportage.

Below are the true facts as far as the acquisition of the vehicle is concerned :

1. The vehicle was acquired at GHC66,000 and not GHC70,000.

2.An amount of GHC563 was incurred in fueling the car from Kumasi to Bolgantanga but not GHC4,000 as reported in the media.

3 . There was a general Council approval before the acquisition of the bus which is the highest decision making body of the students.

4.The car has never been painted upon the acquisition. It wears its original color.

4. The SRC President, Finance Officer, School Driver and a mechanic went and purchased the vehicle.

5. The vehicle never broke down upon bringing it from Kumasi to Bolgantanga.

6. The vehicle is not a 12 sitter but rather 18 sitter.

7. Students never called for the impeachment of the SRC President.

8.There wasn't anything like students calling the SRC President to explain his side of the allegations leveled against him.

For the purposes of the truth without any doubt, the invoice of the car bears the name of the company the vehicle was acquired from. There has been a statement that the invoice was produced on campus upon the purchase of the vehicle.

As responsible leaders who have the interest of students at heart, we shall never act in a way that will jeopardize our integrity and affect the interest of our colleague students. Of course there are some section of the students who are making false allegations against the leadership of the SRC. Well, we will not blame such students because they have the right to criticize us positively but not telling lies to the media and other committed students.

We are ever ready to defend the whole issues surrounding the purchase of the vehicle and we are very optimistic that, the necessary procedures have been duly followed in acquiring the vehicle.

We therefore wish to task our colleague students to disregard the false statements most especially in the media and continue to exhibit professionalism in seeking for right information.

Thank you.

..... Signed......
