One goes to church pays ones contributions and expects at least the Minister to preach about cleanliness and maintence of good sanitation instead the preaching is about what happened thousands of years ago when cleanliness was was the done thing so never appeared in the Bible. Pastors and Ministers claim they follow the words of the Bible but never go out into their communities to to clean after church service. Who is expected to do this job when it is rather the church goers who litters our communities with their pure water etc. Churches must also contribute towards buying litter bins around their churches and encourage after church activities like cleaning around their church or Mosques 6 times a week resting on the on what they deam to be their Sabbath's day.

It's about time we call a spade a spade, no more free lunches. The so called men of God are destroying families and causing havoc in Ghanaian society. Most of them deserves to be in jail, because of lack of integrity, transparency and accountability.
The whole system is morally bankrupt and need strict measures to move the country forward. Stakeholders are supposed to serve mother Ghana not to enrich themselves by misappropriation of public funds. Some of them are doing disservice to the nation and we shouldn't tolerate their deceits and behavior.

No, sir. Ghanaians are not God-fearing. We pretend to be God-fearing. Prayer-loving; yes we are. We pray loudly and in open-places so everyone will know that we're Christians. Meanwhile, the Bible admonishes us to pray in-camera. The Bible says,
"S3 woreb) mpae a, hy3 wo pia mu, na to wo pono mu, na bo w'agya a )w) soro no mpae; na w'agya a )w) soro no b3tua wo ka w) dwa so"
Ghanaians are hypocrites; that's what we are.

Yeah, right! Nana himself is one of the prominent entities who contribute to the falsehoods of what Prayer alone could do for us.
Didn't he go to the Wailing Wall, in Jerusalem, Israel, to pray for success in his next presidential bid? Why didn't he pray at home and save the money spent in that trip for, say, helping pay for some poor kid's school fees, or offer it as incentive for others to clean up their neighborhood filth that had been piling up over the years and posing health hazards?
His success at the Election this time around was more because of Mahama's own stubbornness to stop corruption among his cohorts than any better campaigning Akufo-Addo set himself to undertake. And he could have campaigned a little harder than Mahama, too.
So, Nana won largely on default of Mahama's disappointing performance. And I do not believe, one bit, that God is the one that imposed failure on Mahama to allow Akufo-Addo appear more attractive to the Electorate to give Nana victory. If anything at all, God might have ensured the peaceful environment under which the Elections took place. But that was for both and all other candidates a level plain field to operate in.
Having finally won, Nana, I bet my bottom dollar, most possibly, believes it was his visit to the Wailing Wall that produced his much hoped for results at the Elections.
Well, God helps those who really help themselves, as the author mentioned. In all we do, God expects us to put in our utmost efforts as would be allowed by our gift of His intellect that he created us with. If we approach any tasks with half-strength, we should not expect to achieve the full results possible.
The story or Parable of the Talents in the Bible is probably more apt in this context. The Rich master who shared a certain amount among his three servants to take care of it till he came back from a long trip rewarded the servants according to how they had wisely used their shares (or talents). The Master gave one servant 5 talents, the second, 3, and the third, 1. The servants who got 5 and 3 Talents worked with them to multiply them. The servant who got the least, 1, talent, simply buried his share to secure it for the Master, and nothing more.
On his return, the Master rewarded the two who used the talents to work to let them multiply. And he then took the talent from the servant who only buried his to add to that of the servant who got the most from the beginning, 5, and doubled it to 10.
He then told the servant who lost his that, at least, he could have deposited it in the bank to earn some interest.
So, that explains our general mediocrity in advancement. We only seem to use Prayers to preserve whatever few resources we have. But we cannot even trust God enough to use our brainpower he gave us to risk a bit to improve upon what we have.
Hence, we even lose what He had endowed us with from the beginning. It is not the number of Churches we build, or how long we spend in attending Churches or pray that would help us out of our predicament. It is how best we really and practically employ the talents that God has given us that would help us grow in wealth and prosperity.
That was a very good piece by the author. My kudos to him.
Long Live Ghana!!!

.....BUT like the lazy brained and blinkered people that we are, it'll take a protracted education by our serious matured President and enlightened citizens like you and I to deliver our Country from the rot we are stuck in over all these wasted years since independence and begin to move forward into the 21st century! The advantage of living in the West is that, historically, countries like Britain and most of Europe also went through years like we're doing in Ghana praying and building churches and mighty cathedrals all over but they also eventually became enlightened when the filth and squalor they were wallowing in resulted in epidemics which wiped out millions, worse than even happening in Africa now, and then they suddenly opened their eyes to realise that environmental engineering and helping themselves was the way to go rather than praying for miracles! And after centuries of their self reliance what do we see now but most churches been torn down to make room for housing, industrial estates or even entertainment establishments like Bingo halls in Britain and, has the Heavens fallen down? No because people are happier having decent homes to live in and more employment to earn a decent living!! Do we therefore need any better lessons? Time to wake up Ghanaians!!!

My Gh brothers and sisters have no understanding and yes true that every time one criticise the role of the modern church, one is considered so called "obonsam", energy of progress "die".
It is about time we grow up and as they saying goes "charity begins at home".

He is right on the money!! We have to set our priorities to enable us to be more efficient and competitive. We cannot spend an hour for prayers at the work place- you can do that on your lunch break, but not during working hours. Also, the filth that we create is all about education. A lot of people in the country lack basic hygienic knowledge. They throw garbage everywhere because they know that someone else would clean it. If we humans cannot get that common sense to clean after ourselves, then what are we? Are we animals or what?
