  This MPs I observations about the Police is true, but it does not quite tell all of the story. All institutions of the Ghana Government, have credibility and legitimacy problems. In addition to the Police, the judiciary has its problems. We saw with the recent expose of Anas what many people believe about the judiciary. The ethically compromised States Attorneys, who go into court and deliberately present weak cases, the judges and magistrates who receive cash or goats or chickens or even sexual favours from litigants and the issue judgments which are influenced by such inducements. Even MPs who influence Police or judicial decisions based on political expediency erode public confidence in our systems. Let's say to are the victim of a mob assault. You report it to the Police. The MP intervenes and the predators are back on the street without any charges. Under those circumstances, when you see "street justice" being delivered, you stay out of it, or keep silent. It is a vicious negative cycle, and we are all to blame. The Police are bad, so are we!

  The outright failure of our irrelevant culture is equally responsible.We should collectively first acknowledge the failure of Our "systems" if any.We are a bunch of jokers.Shame on us.

  There is no surge. It has always been this way. The difference now is that everyone has a mobile phone and can 'broadcast' live lynchings or transmit photos of victims as they are dying. I saw people being chased and beaten to death in Accra in the mid 1970s, way before AFRC inspired atrocities. That is how we have lived and that is who we are as a people. We are only talking now because one lynching has gone spectacularly wrong, because it emerged the victim was an innocent soldier and a very beautiful and kind person who in my opinion qualifies as a role model for every human being; he really was a very special man.
  A country of hypocrites who flock to church 7 days and nights in a week, and steal and undermine our institutions on a daily basis.

  Let's be real and truthful. Ghanaians are quick tempered and wicked. If truly criminals are lynched because of the Police then what about alleged witches and wizards who are killed.
