The Inspector General of Police David Asante Apeatu has warned personnel of the Ghana Police Service to uphold high sense of professional since his administration would not shield any act of incompetence.

Mr Apeatu sounded the note of caution when he addressed regional commanders at the National Police Command Conference ongoing in Kumasi.

The theme for the conference is: “Transforming Ghana Police Service into a World Class Police – The role of regional commanders.”

The IGP said the positive image of the police is embedded in its ability to exibit high sense of professionalism and his administration would not relent on it oars in achieving that.

“Mediocrity will not fester in my administration; professionalism will win us public confidence,” he emphasised. Mr Apeatu also expressed dissatisfaction about what he described as cloud of impunity and lawlessness in the country.

He urged the police not to spare anybody who flouts the laws of the land irrespective of the person’s political affiliation.

“Do not hesitate to deal with law breakers but respect the rights of citizens as you perform your professional duties,” he advised.
