ICT Training For Executives Close

Takoradi, May 12, GNA- Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister on Friday said if Ghana does not move fast to build a solid Information Communication and Technology (ICT), the country is likely to loose most of prospective investors.

"ICT technologies have made travel, business, commerce and other trades easier, quicker and more reliable and the country, cannot afford to remain behind" she said.


Madam Horner-Sam was at the closing session of a five-day ICT training for executives in trade, business and professional associations in Takoradi on Tuesday.


The programme, which is the fourth in a series, was organised by the Private Enterprises Foundation (PEF) with sponsorship from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and had the theme


"Effective utilization of information and communication technology for business and advocacy".

Madam Horner-Sam urged participants to use the acquired skills to expand their businesses, seek contacts and market their produce.


In a speech read for him, Dr. Osei Boeh-Ocansey, Director General of PEF said challenges facing several businesses in the country were how to obtain labour, machinery and materials at the least cost.


He said the PEF would continue to provide more training programmes for other institutions to make them conversant with the use of modern ICT. Dr. Boeh-Ocansey added that each training programme would be made suit the needs of each institution depending on their needs. Twenty-eight business executives were presented with certificates at the ceremony.
