Aspiring Regional Chairman for the main opposition National Democratic Congress, Joseph Yammin, has played down the effect of tribal consideration in the election of the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman.

According to Joseph Yammin, Ashanti Region has grown into a cosmopolitan area where multifaceted culture ethnicity have over decades co-existed peacefully and in harmony.

Yammin, who has served in different capacities under the erstwhile John Mahama government as Deputy Minister for Sports and Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister as well as Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation, (NADMO).

Speaking to abusuafmonline.com, Joseph Yammin said some aspirants in the contest have resorted to playing the tribal card as they seek to have advantage above other contenders.

He says, “I don’t think tribal consideration will play any role in who becomes the next regional chairman of the NDC…I don’t think so.”

“The most important thing for the footsoldier is who can deliver them political power by sending the party back to power and I have the track record of an achiever in political mobilsation and reorganisation,” Yammin said.

He adds, “the most important factor is the message I sell to my delegates which has so far been well received and I’m very sure of a resounding victory.”

Joseph Yammin has enjoyed a sterling support among the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress who see him as the only leading figure among them with the fear factor to squarely meet meet the ruling New Patriotic Party in their stronghold.
