Winneba (C/R), June 16, GNA - A Fullbright Professor from the University of Ohio in the United State, Dr Sandra Turner has commended the Government for establishing computer laboratories at the secondary school level.
She said this would help the students to develop the spirit of becoming computer technicians, computer technologist and above all take over the mantle of building computers in the future.
Dr Turner, who has been at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) for 10 months in an Exchange Programme, was speaking to the Ghana News Agency at the University.
She is a lecturer in Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Mathematics.
She commended the students for their co-operation, good conduct and above all hard work during her stay at the University but said inadequate number of computers in the University was a problem. She said 88 students were offering ICT in mathematics but the laboratory had only 30 computers.
Dr Turner said the University of Ohio had planned a series of programmes in the various course structure of the University of Education to help to boost academic standards at UEW. She said currently, there were more than 50 Ghanaian students at the University of Ohio offering various courses in computer sciences and other subjects.
Dr Turner expressed her sincere gratitude to the lecturers and students of the University for making her 10 months exchange programme a success and expressed her desire of coming back to Ghana.
