Former President John Dramani Mahama has assisted the Madina branch of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in their fundraising event by donating a ‘fat’ envelope at the Trinity Parish’s 50th-anniversary celebrations.

Mr. Mahama gave out an undisclosed amount of money to the church after giving some few remarks at the event. The donation was to support the church in raising funds to construct a new church auditorium.

“It is my hope that the next time that you invite me and I visit, we will be in the new church premises. And as my contribution to make sure that happens, I also have a fat envelope. I will not disclose the amount. But when he kept saying fat envelope, I said that normally it is not the size of the envelope but it is the value of the paper that is in the envelope”, Mr. Mahama stated.

District pastor of the church, Rev. Godwin Osiakwa expressed gratitude to the president on behalf of the church for his kind gesture.

In a sermon delivered at the occasion, Immediate past Moderator off the General Assembly, Rt Rev. Francis Amenu urged Christians to prepare fervently for the second coming of Jesus Christ. He also admonished the youth to refrain from all sorts of social vices and participate in nation building.

Present at the programme were dignitaries such as Madam Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to the former President, Greater Accra chairman of the NDC, Ade Coker as well as former Presidential Staffer, Stan Dogbe.

The Trinity Parish of the E. P. Church, Madina was home to many members of the E. P. Church in the 1980s.
