The Kotoka International Airport (KIA) has been declared the safest airport in Africa after winning the Airports Council International (ACI) Safety Awards.

The awards event forms part of efforts to recognize the achievements and progress of all airports in Africa when it comes to providing excellence in safety and compliance practices.

Board chairperson of Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), Oboshie Sai-Cofie believes the award sets the tone for GACL.

"We further dedicate ourselves to promoting a culture of continuous improvement in safety as a matter of gaining competitive advantage and optimising operational excellence,” she stated.

Meanwhile, plans are far advanced for the provision of subscribed access to WiFi at all terminals of the Kotoka International Airport.

This follows a proposal that management of the airport presented to interested parties who will be able to install, operate, manage and maintain a reliable internet access.

In recent times, the Kotoka International Airport does not come close whenever it comes to international practice where almost every airport in the world is providing either free and unlimited WiFi access to all travellers, or at least a mix of complementary and paid access.

What this means is that in the next few days of months, you will be able to enjoy free access to the internet at the various terminals of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) just like you do on other international airports.
