Polyclinics to be rehabilitated to ease congestion

Accra, June 30, GNA - Mr Moses Dani Baah, Deputy Minister of Health, on Wednesday said the Ministry had designed a programme to rehabilitate polyclinics to help ease congestion at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Mr Baah, who said this when he went on an inspection tour at the Hospital, expressed satisfaction at the level of rehabilitation works so far done and commended Management for good work done. The inspection was also to find out how funds provided were being used and how to find solution to existing problems. Projects inspected included the new Administration Block, which is being constructed at the cost of 7.5 billion cedis and the Medical Block that is being rehabilitated and scheduled for completion in October at a cost of 15 billion cedis.


The others were the Maternity Theatre, Audiology Centre and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicts being constructed five billion cedis; 500 million cedis and 3.5 billion cedis, in that order. He also inspected the Delivery Rooms and Recovery Ward at the Maternity Block as well as the Neonatal Care Unit that would offer intensive care for premature babies.

Mr Baah said civil work projects on polyclinics would be done in phases adding that an initial amount of 1.2 million dollars had been released to purchase equipment for the projects.
