Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff donating a nine-seater Ford Bus
The Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, has charged the youth to be disciplined and live morally upright lives.
She said the youth, as future leaders, must direct their energies towards national development and programmes that would help realise their goals.
Madam Osei-Opare made the statement when she presented a nine-seater Ford Bus to the National Cadet Corps of Ghana (NCCG) at a ceremony at the State House, Accra.
A guard of honour was mounted in her honour by cadets drawn from the Greater Accra and Central regions, which include students from T.I Ahmediya in Gomoa Potsin, and the Saint Mary’s Preparatory and Assurance Preparatory schools in Accra.
The NCCG is an amalgamation of Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and Fire cadets in Ghana.
It was established in 1954 under the Ministry of Education, with its current form and organisation being created in 2002, under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The objective of the NCCG is to instil discipline in students and to equip them with basic skills, knowledge in peace building as well as help supplement the formal education knowledge for a better life.
Madam Osei-Opare expressed concern about indiscipline among some of the youth, which, she said, was a source of worry to the Government.
She, therefore, charged the cadets to learn from the motto of the NCCG: “Discipline and Loyalty,” by demonstrating those good qualities within their society.
Mr Alex Kofi Agyekum, the Chairman of the Committee on Sports, Youth and Culture, who received the keys to the vehicle on behalf of the NCCG, commended the Chief of Staff for the support.
He said the bus would help facilitate the programmes and activities of the NCCG across the country.
Mr Nicholas Tettey-Amarteifio, the National Cadet Coordinator, presented a plaque to the Chief of Staff as a sign of appreciation for the support to the group from the Presidency.
