Reverend Evelyn Oppong Konadu in charge of the Nkontompo Nazareth Methodist Church Sekondi has called on the aged to use their experience to help solve disputes in societies as they are the "pots of wisdom ".

They have also been challenged to use their expertise to help in building the nation.

Rev. Mrs Oppong Konadu made the call when the church feted more than 500 aged people within the Nkontompo community, a suburb of Takoradi .

According to the Reverend Minister, the purpose of the feast was to put smiles on the faces of the aged who had been ignored and some abandoned by their loved ones, adding that "if God grants us life every person will experience old age hence the need to handle them with love and care, explaining that they have spent their lives to ensure that we become responsible adults and is now our turn to reciprocate such sacrifices they made for us".

She urged them to continue to serve as role models to the youth and inculcate in them the fear of God and respect for the elderly and endeavour to let the truth prevail.

The Regent of Nkontompo, Nana Kobina Atapi, expressed appreciation on behalf of the aged to the church and appealed to other churches to emulate the footsteps of the Methodist Church.

He disclosed that it was the first time the community was experiencing such show of love for the aged and prayed for the financial muscle for the Church to continue in succeeding years.

He also called on the youth to respect and show love for the aged stressing that they could only learn from the older generation when they showed respect and love for them.

The aged were served with assorted drinks and all kinds of local dishes and were also treated to songs provided by the Vessels of Praise of the Church band

Nana Ama Tsiwaa a 70 year old woman and a beneficiary of the feast expressed joy for the gesture, saying that the gathering had created an opportunity for persons of her age to fraternize and exchange pleasantries.

She thanked the Church for putting smiles on their faces this festive season.
