Corruption tag against Members of Parliament (MPs) sometimes could be true, according to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

“I will be frank with you sometimes, parliamentarians like this budget they took us to Koforidua and they gave us allowances all these are signs of corruption”, the anti-corruption crusader stated.

“Because you drive with your own car, your own fuel everything” Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong explained to host of GHOne State of Affairs political program Nana Aba Anamoah.

“Where the corruption comes in is when you push the ministry and insist that you have to give us this before we approve your budget or whatever we are going to do for you before we approve it”, he explained.

“I don’t hold brief for somebody and I will not sit here and say it does not happen….but sometimes the way the media come up with these are sometimes exaggerated”, he bemoaned.

“We have an extended sitting of course and Christmas my committee the Ministry gave us something for Christmas we never went there to demand”, the chairman of Parliamentary Select Committee on Communications revealed.

He however observed that the Ghanaian naturally is born corrupt and that corruption is not peculiar to only politicians and civil servants.

“Our attitude and mindset as Ghanaians every time we are thinking of duping somebody”, the outspoken and controversial lawmaker observed

According to Hon. Kennedy Ohne Agyepong, every system supposed to check corruption in the country have broken down making paving way for politicians, civil servants as well as individuals to cheat one another.
