Deputy Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has said government seeks to focus strongly on improving job creation and economic conditions this year.
He said government is also strengthening the fight against corruption which is reflected in the nomination of Martin Amidu as Special Prosecutor pending Parliamentary approval.
"In the year 2018, government seeks to focus very strongly on improving job creation and improving economic conditions in the country," he said.
"You have heard some of the things we've outlined in the 2018 Budget and we are optimistic that, if we execute according to the schedule we should be able to achieve the results that we are looking forward to," he told the media in Kumasi when he met some Journalists on Friday, January 12, 2018.
He indicated that government has made significant strides in the first three quarters in restoring micro economic stability and "we have also made significant strides in commencing some of our major policy initiatives. Talk of the area of education, health care and investment in agriculture among others".
He appealed to the media to help government understand citizens think and feel and make the opinions available so that government will not go astray.
"We are partners in this business and as we start the New Year, we want to deepen that relationship and ask of you to continue sharing with us that feedback," he added.
He also urged the media to take interest in social matters that ought to be brought to the attention of the entire society for solutions, citing the slave trade publication by the CNN in Libya as an example.
"We are also asking the media, being the conscience of the society, especially in this new year, we ask of you to also pay attention to some of these matters and to bring them to the floor, so that all of us can be consumed by it and can begin to attend to it in addition to our programmes that we have on the table and what the people are asking us to attend to," he said.
