The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has said it has mapped out new strategies to help it achieve its revenue target of GH¢39.2billion this year.

The GRA failed to meet the 2017 target of GH¢34billion, collecting GH¢32.4billion instead.

The GRA’s Commissioner General Emmanuel Kofi Nti expressed hope that with the recent reforms in the economy coupled with deliberate educational campaigns, the 2018 target will be achieved.

“Moving on from…to the new level of 39.8 is basically talking of 23.7% increase and last year we did 22.3%. And so, we will need to work even harder,” he noted.

The 22.3% made last year, he said was at a time “we couldn’t roll out the excise tax stamps, we couldn’t roll out the electronic point of sale device and so this time around with the coming of these things we should be able to matchup to it.”

He said the innovative measures that “we took towards the end of the year [2017] are coming to fruition in 2018” thus “we are of the view that 2018 is going to be relatively good year.”
