Speaker of Parliament Professor Mike Oquaye has referred the nomination of Mr Martin Amidu as Special Prosecutor to the Appointments Committee of Parliament for consideration.
This follows an official communique from the Office of the President informing the house of the appointment.
After reading the communique to parliament on Wednesday, 24 January, the Speaker said: “It is hereby referred to the Appointments Committee.”
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced the appointment of Mr Amidu on Thursday, 11 January 2018 at the Flagstaff House in Accra.
Mr Amidu will carry out the extraordinary responsibility of independently fighting corruption.
He will have full authority to initiate investigations into all suspected corruption-related offences of all persons in public service.
