Founder and President of Globethics.net, Professor Christoph Stuckelberger has argued that there is a high level of credibility among people with close relations than there is between members of the civil society and officials in the public sector.

According to Prof. Stuckelberger, the credibility of leadership is in crisis as an extreme number of CEOs and government officials are positioned as people with low ethical and transparent tendencies due to the distant relationship that exist between the people who serve them or even elected them into their respective offices.

Speaking at the Ethics and Values Lectures on Thursday February 8 he said neighbours tend to support each other notwithstanding any position that puts them in a bad light.

But distinguishing that same relationship between public officials and their electorates, he said about 37% of CEOs are seen as credible whiles only about 29% of government officials are considered as such.

Prof. Stuckelberger held that, the circumstance is as a result of the abuse of power by some leaders who are appointed to occupy various positions in our society, stating that such leaders are only cluttered up with personal interests and manipulation.

He held that the result of their actions in the end is the corruption and conflicts we encounter on daily basis.

The Ethics and Values Lectures is a two-day international workshop on the culture of Integrity, Ethics and Transparency.

The first session of the public lecture came off at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Thursday on February 8, 2018 and is expected to end on Friday, February 9 at the Ghana Academy of Arts & Sciences Auditorium in Accra.

The aim of the workshop is to share knowledge and interact with leaders in the areas of governance, business and academia in Ghana and to increase the demand for ethical services, integrity and transparency by civil society by Public Servants of Ghana.
