Some member of Actionplus Foundation at the House of Commons
Actionplus Foundation has celebrated its 20th anniversary at the House of Commons’ Jubilee Room in the UK.
The event came off on December 15, 2017, was hosted by Honourable Neil Coyle, MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark, saw a 20-year culmination of Action Plus Foundation’s work on the elimination of HIV from communities through working with Churches in England for people to get tested in order to know their HIV status and get the supportive help and management procedures that Actionplus Foundation and its partners are well known for.
The evening occasion was graced by the presence of the Deputy High Commissioner of Ghana to the UK in the person of Her Excellency Rita Tani Iddi, Southwark Counsellors Sunny Lambe, and Counsellor Michael Situ, Prophet Elisha Boateng, Bishop Daniel Adewale King, Dr Evelyn Tawiah, Darlene Bio, as well as, Actionplus Foundation’s volunteers and members of the public that have been supportive over the years.
Following the opening of the occasion by a prayer lead by Bishop Daniel Adewale King, followed by an opening address from the host, Honourable Neil Coyle, with introduction to the occasion’s purpose provided by Dr Evelyn Tawiah, Apostle Fred Osei Annin, the CEO and Founder of Actionplus Foundation, reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to eliminating HIV from the Southwark community, as well as, other communities in the UK and Ghana.
He also gave the news that the Foundation’s successful track record has been noticed internationally and its processes and procedures for working with Churches are currently been sort for global partnerships, to aid in the complete elimination of HIV from all communities. This met with a resounding applause that was in appreciation for the unwavering commitment and work being carried by the Foundation.
Her Excellency Rita Tani Iddi presented awards to Pastors, Bishops and volunteers who have contributed to the Foundation’s story of success.
When interviewed after the awards presentation, Her Excellency Iddi stated that she was proud of the work being done by the Foundation and sees it as an educative and positive action enabling community service that aids people to make the right choice when it comes to dealing with the issue of HIV.
Previously been in the educational sector before becoming the Deputy High Commissioner of Ghana to the UK, she believes that ignorance and stigma can only be eradicated when people are motivated to take the right actions when they are educated in an environment that they trust and feel safe in, such as churches.
And while the churches have done great works within their communities, strategic partnerships with organizations such as the Actionplus Foundation, was the right step forward in making the world better, safer and a lot more tolerant and understanding to the needs of individuals within their communities, in order to further the development of healthy communities where everyone thrives despite different challenges.
