Although Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, has apologized for making some damning allegations against his party in a leaked audio which had gone viral, Former Second Vice Chairman of the party, Sammy Crabbe has jumped to his defence saying his claims are true.

Among other things, Nana Obiri Boahen in the audio alleged that the presidency donated about GHc50 billion towards the party’s 2017 National Annual Delegates Conference held in Cape Coast in the Central Region; a claim the party denied.

Mr. Boahen in the audio is heard complaining bitterly about some happenings in the NPP, and also lamented that he has been sidelined in the sharing of the national cake.

He apologised for making the allegations following the backlash from particularly party members, claiming that portions of the tape had been doctored but Mr. Crabbe quizzed why he was apologizing for something he says is a true reflection of the happenings in the party.

“I don’t see why he should be running away from what he said seriously speaking. What he said is not something people are saying. Minus the claims of GHC50b that I don’t know what he was saying but generally speaking people come to all the time and talk about not being minded, they not getting jobs, they being left out. People come for school fees, people come to feed, all of those thing are happening.” He said

According to Mr. Crabbe, Obiri Boahen ought to ‘man up’ and own his words as far worse things than those he said have been said by others about the party. The comments, as far as he is concerned were made in privacy and but for a leaked tape wouldn’t have been public knowledge.

“I’m saying that if you say something in private complained that you are not getting something and someone abuses the trust, records and place it in public, you did not say it publicly. If I were him I will own. What has he said that people have not said?.”
