Former Director General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Ernest Thompson, and three other workers of the state pension firm have been indicted for wilfully causing financial loss to the state.

The three others are Juliet Hasana Krama, CEO of Perfect Business System; John Hagan Mensah, former OBS Project Manager at SSNIT and Caleb Afaglo, ex-General Manager of Management Information Systems at SSNIT.

This comes on the heels of investigations by the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) on the procurement of an IT Software costing $72 million.

The Company Secretary to SSNIT told journalists on Wednesday at a press conference that one Juliet Hasana Krama was the supplier of the software.

EOCO commenced probing SSNIT in August 2017 after it emerged that the Trust had injected $72 million on the procurement and installation of a software and other hardware systems known as the Operational Business Suite (OBS) to digitise SSNIT’s operations.

The project included the installation of a software to ensure that its headquarters receives data directly from all of its offices.
