Walahi! I’m proud of what I’ve achieved as a minister - Hamid

His works will speak for him, even several years after his exit from office and that confidence cannot be downplayed, not even by the comments or opinions of others; that’s a firm belief of Information Minister Mustapha Hamid.

Taking his turn with Kwabena Kyenkyenhene Boateng on the ’21 Minutes with KKB’ show, he touted his feats in the ministry so far, describing his administration at the Information Ministry as unprecedented.

“When I exit this place history will record what we did. For the first time in the history of the Ministry of Information, we have a 12-hour media monitoring center, fully equipped media monitoring center never existed in the ministry, we had a government mouthpiece called Ghana Today magazine, defunct for 10 years never was being published now we are publishing Ghana Today quarterly”

“When we came and we went round this whole country, many district information service officers said that for the past 10 years, this was the first time they were sitting face to face with a minister for information. When we came, information service vans across the districts were all broken down, we’ve put many of them back on the road, we’ve equipped our district information officers with laptops and stuff to allow them to send us information”.

The introduction of Town Hall meetings where members of a particular district are given a platform to directly interact with government, relay their concerns and have them addressed are one of the deeds which for him will speak volumes for his ministry for generations to come.

“We are launching the 2018 Town Hall meetings in Dzodze on the 7th of May for the first time. Last year we organized 150 Town Hall meetings where we take government officials to the local communities, districts where we sit with chiefs, community leaders, ordinary citizens, market women and they ask directly what it is government is doing for them and we get them to answer, that program never existed until we came”.

Like the Agama Lizard who will commend himself even if no one will, a proud Mustapha Hamid assertively basked in his works.

“All of these things are matters that history will record for me. I am very proud, Walahi, I’m very very proud”, he maintained.

The minister also reiterated the fact that moving from one media house to the other for discussions though quite useful is not a course he intends championing as government’s spokesperson.



This follows his previous strong position, parrying off suggestions he may not be delivering on his mandate of defending the President as well as New Crusading Guide Editor-in-Chief Kweku Baako does.

‘It’s not just Accra, I can’t just be sitting in Accra and sitting on Joy FM, that’s what people want, I’m not going to do that, I’ll do the things as I said, today, when I exit, all these things will be recorded as a novelty in the name of Dr. Abdul Hamid Mustapha, so I’m very proud, it doesn’t matter what people say, no”, an unperturbed Mustapha said.
