President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday inaugurated the Board of the National Labour Commission (NLC), calling on it to ensure that labour disputes brought before it are resolved fairly and objectively.

At a brief inauguration ceremony at the Jubilee House in Accra, the President told the seven members of the Board that their work would be keenly followed and judged by Ghanaians, thus what they do should be characterized by impartiality and neutrality.

The Board, which is chaired by Mr Andrew Kwabena Asamoah, includes Mr Kwame Ofori-Gyau, Mrs Rose Karikari Anang, Mr Francis Kofi Davoh, Mr Fidelis Patrice Seddoh, Mr John Kwame Effah Nkrabea-Darteh and Mr James Attah Krufi Nuamah.

Whilst acknowledging the importance of organised labour to nation building, President Akufo-Addo told the Board that his government’s vision to grow the economy and develop the country was hinged on a peaceful labour front, and charged it to be abreast of the laws governing the front

He gave the assurance that government would work assiduously to ensure a peaceful and harmonious labour environment conducive for development.

Mr Asamoah, on his part, expressed members’ appreciation for the confidence reposed in them and gave the assurance that they would work to solve the malaise in the labour front.
