Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs. Catherine Abelema Afeku has rolled out a package to register two thousand (2,000) people in Axim and its environs onto the National Heath Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as part of the Mother's Day celebration on today Sunday May 13, 2018.

The gesture formed part of her campaign pledge in the round-up to the December 2016 general elections to improve access to quality and affordable health care delivery in her Constituency.

The free registration exercise which covers children below 18 years, disabled persons and the vulnerable within her jurisdiction, is being financed from the MP's Health Insurance Fund.

Speaking to the media at Axim, Mrs. Afeku who is also the Member of Parliament for Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira Constituency said the healthcare needs of her people was very paramount in her development agenda and wouldl make sure people in her area could access quality health services.

She revealed that the registration exercise would afford new entrants the opportunity to register and those with expired cards to renew their cards free of charge.

She added that the exercise was a non-partisan one and therefore entreated everybody in her Constituency to take advantage of it and register.

"Sickness doesn't know whether you are an NDC member or NPP member, sickness is sickness so I urge everybody to come and register", the MP emphasized.

She revealed that plans are far advanced to acquire a new X-ray apparatus and an ambulance van for the Axim Government Hospital.

She used the platform to wish all responsible mothers in Ghana especially those in her Constituency a happy Mother's Day and prayed for them to live long.

She stressed the need for responsible mothers to be recognized anytime the need arose.

"Mothers are special people and without them we can't do anything on this earth and I use this moment to wish Her Excellency the First Lady of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo a happy Mother's Day".

She pledged to construct ten ultra-modern toilet facilities at Axim to ease the open defecation at the beach and appealed to her constituents to support the Nana Akufo-Addo-Bawumai led administration to deliver the goods to Ghanaians.
