Kade (E/R), Sept 1, GNA - Nana Akomeah, the Minister of Information, has called for an end to chieftaincy disputes in order to hasten the country's development.
''If the nation should advance then all traditional areas should ensure that chiefs are installed in an atmosphere of unity and peace,'' he said.
Nana Akomea said this at Kade on Saturday during the outdooring of Barima Agyare Tenadu 11 as Kadehene. He was enstooled on June 5. Barima Tenadu, a marine engineer aged 38, succeeded his uncle, Barima Gyakorang Adu Twum, who abdicated in February after 19 years rule following a protracted litigation.
The Minister congratulated the people of Kade for the peaceful manner they selected and enstool the new chief and expressed the hope that in unity and peace Kade would see development and progress.
Barima Tenadu said he would seek the progress, prosperity and welfare of all the people of Kade and its environs.
He said about seven years ago he learnt from the media that the then government would upgrade the Kade Health Centre into a hospital but ''this laudable vision is becoming a mirage.''
''My people have demonstrated their preparedness to assist in the construction of a first class district hospital and have started to build a male ward.''
Barima Tenadu called for the hastening of work at the new site of the Kade Secondary/Technical School so that the school, now housed in dilapidated buildings of the erstwhile Kade Match Factory, could move to the new site.
He also called for a fire station at Kade to serve institutions like the Kusi Oil Palm Research Institute, the Ghana Consolidated Diamonds Limited at Akwatia, the Ghana oil Palm Development Company at Kwae and the Agricultural Research Station of the University of Ghana at Okumaning.
The Kwaebibirem District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Yiadom-Boakye, gave the assurance that the Kade Secondary/Technical School would move to the new site when the new academic year commenced next month. He said a citrus processing plant would soon be established at Kade to process large quantities of citrus produced in the district.
