Pupils from Beposo, Amanfro and Miawani are struggling to make it to school on daily basis due to the unpleasant adventure they face before making it school.

The pupils bemoaned how they have to cross the Densu river every day before they get to school at Asuoya and Tei Nkwanta in the Akuapem North Municipality which is so scary and heartbreaking.

They emphasized the need for government to come to their aid saying “the situation is affecting our academic performance and we fear it could also affect our BECE results especially in this raining season that the river will overflow its banks”.

“The time we have to spend each morning traveling to school, consumes much of our time because we have only one canoe so we go to school in batches which stresses us up and delays our time therefore we end up spending just few hours in the classroom.”

They recalled some unpleasant incidents that happened last year 2017, where some pupils and adults of their community lost lives in one of their adventurous moment of crossing the river.

Meanwhile CEO of “As I Grow NGO” in the Eastern region, Mr Isaac Debrah Bekoe rallied a passionate call to the government, cooperate bodies, Philanthropists and other institutions to come to the aids of these pupils and their entire communities because they have been offering help to them for some time now yet that alone is not enough so they are therefore appealing to the aforementioned bodies to come to the aid of these kids and help save their futures.

“As I Grow NGO” also revealed, per their investigations that, five people have also lost their life in the course of this adventure, they further warned that more lives will perish if maximum care is not taken in the nearest future.
