Woman dies after drowning in a river at Afram Plains

Eliabeth Afua Mensah, a 25-year-old woman has been retrieved from the Afram Plains river where she is reported to have drowned.

Mrs Mensah is reported to have been suffering from schizophrenia which upon recurring causes her to react in a strange manner including thoughts of committing suicide but had been light on its treatment.

The sad incident occurred at the Ekye Amanfom in the South District of Afram Plains in the Eastern Region.

The deceased reportedly went missing on Saturday evening after going through hallucination over claims that she was being pushed into the river by some invisible people on Friday night May 18 2018.

Speaking on Kasapa FM, the Afram Plains South District Operations officer of the National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO, Mamfred Asiedu Doe said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue awaiting autopsy before body released to family for burial.

The body was retrieved by a joint team of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Police.
