Volta Region NPP endorses Freddie Blay

The Volta Regional hierarchy of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared support for the acting National Chairman, Freddie Armah Blay’s bid to become the party’s National Chairman.

The executives are of the strong conviction Mr Blay has the needed expertise and technicalities to record another victory for the governing NPP in 2020, hence must be elected as a substantive National Chairman after acting for over 2 years.

The Volta Regional Organiser, Emmanuel Korsi Bodja, First Vice Chairman, Kofi Agyei Ntim, Secretary, Joseph Homenya, Deputy Secretary, Joshua Makubu , Women Organiser, Afi Agyagbo and Youth Organiser, David Nkabonam joined Mr Blay’s campaign trail in the Volta Region to help convince delegates to vote for him.

Speaking at two separate encounters with NPP Constituency Executives in northern Volta, the First Vice Chairman, Kofi Agyei Ntim, advised delegates to weigh contributions of all the National Chairman aspirants towards the party and vote accordingly.

He added that among the four aspirants, Freddie Blay stands tall taking into account his enormous contributions to the party’s victory in the 2016 general elections.

‘Freddie Blay exhibited great leadership proficiency when he lead the NPP out of opposition in 2016. This should tell you that he’s got what it takes to maintain the NPP in power in 2020 and beyond’, he said.

The Volta Regional Secretary, Joseph Homenya, said “we were in the wilderness and fought fiercely together for the party to wrestle power from the National Democratic Congress.”

“Why then do you change somebody who was instrumental in kicking out a governing party with 1.5 million vote gab?, he quizzed.

Volta campaign tour

Mr Blay together with his Campaign Manager, Sylvester Tetteh and Communications Director, Richard Nyamah were on a campaign tour in the Volta Region to solicit for votes to enable him become the National Chairman for the NPP.

Mr Blay who has been explaining his policies and strategies, of which positioning the NPP to finance its campaign activities is paramount, urged the delegates to vote him as the next National Chairman to enable him complete what he started for the party.

“My better half is from the region so my children and I are from this region as well, do well and give me all your votes to enable me lay a good foundation to maintain the NPP in power for 30 more years.”

257 buses for the party

The acting Chairman explained the vision of procuring 257 buses for the party was long hatched before the executive elections, therefore, the ‘1 bus-1 constituency’ mantra was not meant to buy votes from delegates.

He stated that the buses which were purchased by a loan facility would be allocated to the various constituencies, but managed by a transport company to accrued revenue to pay off the loan and also finance party activities in the respective constituencies.

More Parliamentary seats for NPP in Volta

Mr Blay who was unhappy with the NPP having only one parliamentary seat in the region promised to make available the needed logistics to facilitate party activities in the region.
