Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has indicated his readiness to respond to undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’s defamation suit in court stating that, the GHS25million damages was peanuts to him.
He said “that is peanuts” and added that Anas is “too cheap”.
The maverick member of parliament said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii sen on Friday, 8 June 2018, boasted that he is unperturbed by the suit and he will soon return from his trip abroad and face Anas.
He maintained “in the course of my investigation I realised that he’s the worst offender in terms of corruption and therefore he doesn’t deserve to call anybody corrupt in this country”.
Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has sued the legislator for defamation.
Mr Agyapong launched a scathing attack on Anas’s modus operandi in his journalism practice shortly after the journalist disclosed his intention to release his latest documentary which uncovered corrupt practices in Ghana football.
According to Mr Agyapong, Anas does not practice investigative journalism but sets people up to destroy their hard-won reputation.
He noted that if Anas were to have been using the same entrapment tactics in some other part of the world, he would have been killed by now.
The lawmaker described Anas as “corrupt, evil, blackmailer, and wicked”, and promised to strip him naked with evidence.
