President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has admonished the Muslim community to be on the lookout for people amongst them who peddle hate to disturb the security of the state.

Delivering the Special Guest of Honour address at this year’s Eid Ul Fitr held at the Black Star Square, President Akufo-Addo said, the territorial integrity of the Republic is a joint effort of the civilian population and the security agencies.

He observed that the price of liberty, they say, is eternal vigilance, therefore, a constant lookout for deviants in the country ought to be the responsibility of all persons including the Muslim community.

“I urge you to be on the lookout for troublemakers and hate preachers amongst us. The security agencies will not hesitate to deal with those who incite hate, not even if they do so in the name of Islam or Christianity,” the President stated.

Education

The President also called on the various Muslim communities and sects in the country to embrace one another irrespective of their doctrinal differences.

On the issue of girl child education, he urged Muslim leaders to take advantage of the various educational policies of government and ensure that the Muslim girl child is not left out in the quest to educate the youth of Ghana.

The National Chief Imam

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, led the prayers after which he delivered his sermon. In his message, the Chief Imam admonished his fellow Muslims to continually fear Allah and submit to him. He urged them to remember the auspicious nature of the occasion, and the spiritual success they have attained at the end of 30 days of fasting.

“The virtues you have been able to embark on must shine in full glory and continue to shine in the subsequent months ahead of us,” the Chief Imam said. Additionally, the Muslim leader observed that “these virtues of nobility and human dignity have been made abundantly clear in the Holy Quran and the hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. Therefore, do not be unmindful of them as you celebrate with joy and happiness the Eid-ul-Fitr day,” the Imam said.
