At the inauguration of an audit committee of health institutions in the Central Region, Dr. Alexis Nang Beifubah called on the audit committee to work to ensure proper and effective financial management practices at health institutions.

This is in accordance with the provisions in Section 86 of the Public Financial Management Act 2016(Act 921) which requires that all government institutions establish audit committees.

“Public purse protection and value for money necessitated the promulgation of this Act, management should take these committee work seriously and cooperate with them and give them maximum support at all times” Dr. Nang Beifubah observed at the event according to our Central Regional Correspondent, Hajia Asana Gordon

He urged the audit committee to take the audit seriously and stay out of trouble, adding that his office is open to any auditor who will call for his support to enable him or her function effectively and efficiently as expected.

In a his speech read on behalf of the Central Regional, Kwabena Duncan, he entreated all heads of covered entities to give the audit committees the needed support to ensure efficient delivery of their mandates.

Consequently, he noted that the implementation of Audit Recommendations became a challenge to a large extent considering the fact that some of the Audit observation were adversely related to the activities of these same members in the committee.

Mr. Duncan pledged the support of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and also assured them his outfit will monitor the work of all audit committees with keen interest to achieve the desired result devoid of audit queries.
