Titus Glover, Deputy Transport Minister
Deputy Minister for Transport, Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus Glover has jabbed the Ghana Maritime Authority and the Ghana Shippers’ Authority for failing to honour an invitation by the Ghana Chamber of Shipping to attend a round table conference on a local content policy for the maritime industry
According to him the demeanor of the two state institutions does not augur well for the advancement of the industry.
The minister who was visibly angry, noted that even though the shippers Authority’s Head Office was hosting the 39th annual council meeting of the ports management association of west and central Africa, the two institutions could have sent representatives to the event.
“I am not seeing the Chamber of shipping as a threat. It is more of a platform to share information because when you see the plethora of officials that have come together to form this organization, I think it is a plus for this country. For the Maritime Authority and the Shippers’ Authority to sit back and say they don’t want to be part, I totally disagree” he fumed.
The Hon. Titus Glover promised to raise the issue with his boss, the sector Minister to ensure something is done about the attitude of the two state institutions towards the Chamber.
“ We are converging in Koforidua this evening. We are going to have a stakeholders conference and mid year conference of all our stakeholders within the ministry of transport and I will bring this to the attention of my Minister” he added.
According to the Minister, the two institutions would have learned a lot from the discussions and presentations at the conference since it had to do with local content and the cabotage regime.
