Emmanuel Sin-nyet Asigri, CEO of the National Youth Authority
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Emmanuel Sin-nyet Asigri has denied media reports seeking to suggest that the participants at the just ended International Youth Day Summit held at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region were abandoned.
He revealed that adequate measures were put in place by the organisers of the event to ensure that participants who travelled from far and near were adequately catered for.
“We made adequate arrangements including accommodation and other things necessary for the successful hosting of the event which was testified by participants from the various regions. Claims that we abandoned participants is mischievous and falsehood being peddled by faceless individuals aimed at taking the shine out of a successful event which we used to kick-start our campaign against Tramadol abuse”, he revealed.
Some media outlets have reported that the participants were stranded after a successful hosting of the event but organisers disagreed.
They revealed that most of them were awaiting the arrival of their buses to travel back to their destinations which was misconstrued by others as being abandoned.
“You must treat such pieces of information with the contempt it deserves. Every group had a leader and they were given the channels of communications if they encounter challenges before, during and after the event. It is therefore not possible that these persons could be left stranded in such a situation”, one of the organisers revealed to MyNewsGh.com
The opening ceremony of the International Youth Day Summit which was held on 11th of August was under the theme, “Safe spaces for youth’ graced by the Sports Minister, Hon. Isaac Asiamah, the Director of Ghana Health service, Dr. Nsiah Asare, CEO of NYA, Mr. Emmanuel Asigri and was chaired by Drobomanhene, Nana Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II, President of the Drobo Traditional Council in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The event was used to launch the national campaign against Tramadol abuse.
