The National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) says it cannot be blamed for the any leakages of its report recently submitted to the President.
Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Kenneth Attafuah, told JoyNews that non of the commission members and their supporting staff has copies of the 5 volume report as such they cannot be blamed for any leakages.
The Commission submitted its report to President Kufuor last week but the President said government would make contents of the report public after the Attorney General (AG) has pored over it.
The AG is yet to complete that exercise but some independent newspapers have already published aspects of the commissions report.
The contents were first leaked by the pro-government Statesman Newspaper which published some findings and recommendations made on the murder of the three judges and the retired Major.
Other pro-government newspapers have also published the same contents.
This leakage has brought about some confusion as to who leaked those aspects of the report and what motive it is purported to achieve.
Some have blamed members of the NRC as been behind the leakage.
But Dr. Attafuah says the NRC could not be blamed.
?You?ve got to have some respect for the laws and the protocols that govern this country. The law required us to submit our report to the president. We have done so. If there is a leakage, it is definitely not from the national reconciliation commission?, he said.
He said the commission itself put in place a number of mechanisms to insulate its members from such accusations.
?The commission itself put in place a number of internal mechanisms to make sure that it would not be possible to leak any aspect of his work and we want to maintain that excellent credit. I don?t have a copy; none of the commission members had a copy of the report. Nobody had a copy of the report to leak?, he said.
The NDC has blamed the government has been behind the leakage.
