“Special Prosecutor, Martin A.B.K Amidu needs a little time to go after persons who have wreaked havoc to the national purse”. These are the exact words of the Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Yaa Boamponsem Ameyaw on Homebase TV MyNewGh.com monitored, he indicated that Ghanaians are over-anxious to see the antigraft crusader zoom into action by parading persons perceived to have embezzled state funds or in the process of doing so before the law courts.
According to him, it is just a matter of time for Ghanaians to see the Citizen Vigilante in full flight to prove his sceptics who think his wings have been clipped wrong.
Responding to claims by the Auditor General Yaw Daniel Domelevo over the under-resourced state of the office of the Special Prosecutor which is likely to affect the delivery of its mandate he said “I am worried over the utterances of the Auditor General at the Baah Wiredu memorial lecture.
People embezzled the country’s resources under the erstwhile administration left, right and centre. BOST is an example. The Special Prosecutor will go after them mark my words”
“Claims Special Prosecutor not receiving the needed attention is also flawed. He will work to ensure that every money that has been stolen will be retrieved”, he stressed.
