Seasoned journalist, Kwesi Pratt has showered praises on Attorney General, Gloria Akuffo, claiming her integrity cannot be undermined.
Contributing to Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" Morning Show Friday, Kwesi Pratt told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the Attorney General, since assuming office, has exhibited a high level of independence and integrity; doing a great job for Ghana.
His comment was in response to claims by Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu that some heads of government institutions are making his mandate to fight corruption difficult because they simply do not want to cooperate with him.
He accused the government officials of keeping relevant information and documents that could help him nail corrupt officials.
“You ask for information you can’t get it, you ask for docket, the docket cannot be produced. You ask a minister for a record, the record cannot be produced. How do you fight corruption when those appointed by the president who has a vision are not coordinating with the office of the special prosecutor to achieve his mandate? That is the challenge we have to face", he stressed.
Mr. Amidu's claims are said to directly implicate the Attorney General as well as he claimed when he asks for docket, "the docket cannot be produced".
But in a quick riposte, Kwesi Pratt stated emphatically that "if someone smears this Attorney General, it will worry me. Because when you look at how she’s worked from the beginning, the level of independence and integrity that has characterized the work of the Attorney General since she assumed office; it will be disturbing…For me, this Attorney General has integrity”.
