Engineers of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), have begun fixing the ‘haul road’ leading to the Oti Land Fill Site at Dompoase, which has been rendered impassable by torrential rainfall.

Garbage vehicles are unable to use the road this is making waste collection difficult in the metropolis.

Mr. Godwin Okumah Nyame, the Public Relations Officer of the KMA, said they were eager to get it back in good shape as quickly as possible.

Speaking to journalists after an inspection of the project, he noted that, the situation was not helpful to the assembly’s waste management effort.

He appealed the residents to bear with them as they worked around the clock to repair the damaged road.

He cautioned against indiscriminate dumping of waste and said offenders would be made to face appropriate sanctions.

The KMA was not going to countenance any breaches of its environmental sanitation bye-laws meant to keep the city clean.
